2983-5669) Some Photos From The GERALD KOSKY SCRAPBOOK
I was contacted by a person who'd looked at my WebSite and wanted to purchase certain photos from the Gerald Kosky ScrapBook I've been offering.
Since the ScrapBook hasn't sold, in tact, I've decided to go ahead and sell the photos, thus breaking up the ScrapBook.

Having come from the Gerald Kosky ScrapBook, there are some tape and page remnants on the backside.

2898-4195) THE 37cent HOUDINI STAMP From 2002.
20 stamps come to a sheet.
The Houdini stamp sheet was first issued at the 2002 Society of American of Magicians convention in New York on July 3rd.
The Houdini stamp was ‘officially dedicated’ at the convention, with Houdini’s niece Marie Blood in attendance. David Copperfield was there, too.
If you didn't pick up a sheet of these Wonderful Houdini stamps, 7 years ago, here's your chance. - $12.50
The portrait on the Harry Houdini stamp, which depicts a confident, self-assured man at the height of his career, was taken from a 1911 lithographed poster in the collection of Gary H. Mandelblatt. Designed by Richard Sheaff of Scottsdale, Arizona. The stamp contains a hidden image which, when viewed through the official U.S. Postal Service Stamp Decoder, appears to wrap Houdini in chains.

2908-7899) THE FINAL HOUDINI SEANCE LP Recorded on October 31, 1936 (10 years after Houdini's death) and narrated
by George L. Boston. Featuring the voices of Mrs. Harry Houdini and Dr. Edward
Saint. A George Garabedia Production. Produced in 1975 by Mark56 Records of
Anaheim, California. Great shot on Cover of Houdini's head 'ghostly'
superimposed over a graveyard site. This world wide final Houdini Séance took place on Halloween
night, on the roof of the Knickerbocker Hotel in Hollywood,
California. This was to be the greatest attempt to pierce the unknown, and
form a spirit contact that was ever conceived by mortal man. It was on this
night that Mrs. Harry Houdini made the supreme effort to reach her beloved
husband, Houdini. Over 300 invited guest formed the outer circle, while 13
scientists, occulogists, newspapermen, magicians, spiritual leaders and other
friends of Houdini, joined Mrs. Houdini in the inner circle. As Dr. Saint said during the séance: "This
is a Houdini night, with the spotlight of the public on Houdini; with the whole
world paused to see or hear Houdini step on this side of the curtain." Before Houdini died, he arranged a
definite test of spiritualism. He devised a ten-word code which he planned to
use to communicate with his wife, if possible, within ten years after his death.
October 31, 1936 was the final test, the final séance. Whether your belief is in spiritualism or
not, you will agree that this on-the-scene recording, and the mystery which surrounds the séance
will leave a doubt in your mind whether the great Houdini returned. Since this LP is still sealed/unopened - I
can only assume it's
still in

2909-2563) HOUDINI 8x10 PHOTOs IN DESK FRAME
For the most part, the photo's below tell the whole story. This offering is for three different Houdini reproduction photographs.
First is a nice portrait photo of Houdini from the waist up, slight turned to his right, wearing a suit with bow tie. This is the same image Houdini used in the upper left corner of his stationery. As can be seen in the photo below, there's a great signature: Harry Houdini - Jan 31, 1914 going along the left side of the photo.
The second is Houdini's famous "Hollywood pose". Wonderful starring look by Houdini with his right hand covering part of the left side of his face. One of his most famous photo's.
The last photo shows Houdini in a three piece suit, hands in his pockets. Harry Handcuff Houdini written across the middle of the photo. Except Houdini has had some fun with his signing and only used two H's, instead of three. How clever!!
If these were a genuine photo's, they would cost you hundreds of dollars and the signed one, thousands. No one has to know it’s not real, unless you tell them....
Each comes in an ‘antique looking’ frame, would sit nicely on your desk. Plus, there's a tab on the back, should you wish to hang it on your wall. Overall size of the frame is 9 7/8"x11 3/4". Don’t want to spend hundreds? Then this is for you.... Just click on the 'thumbnail' photos for a better look. - $25.00(each)

2927-9478) THE JUGGLER
Called "The Juggler, but in Old English, this means MAGICIAN.
This is an
AUTHENTIC 126 Year Old photogravure published in 1883 by Gebbie & Co. It is printed on a heavy-weight paper and is blank on the reverse. The print is in very good condition with the image area crisp and clean. It is titled in the lower margin.Image area 5"x10 3/8" - paper size: 10 1/8"x14 1/2"
. This has been professionally double matted, with a foam core back. All has been shrink wrapped. Overall measurement is: 14"x18". A standard size, just right for a ready made or custom frame.A little history on this print:
'The actors, in the lively scene before us, various classes of society and types of mind are presented. The ladies in the foreground exhibit an amused surprise; the humbler woman beside them betrays a more serious wonderment, while the mother on her left appears to sympathize with the alarm of her children. The men in this group are disposed to be jocular over the performance. An old schoolmaster marches by with his scholars; he is absorbed in his book, possibly is seeking light upon the dark arts. Beyond him two philosophers are apparently speculating on the mysteries of mind and matter. Finally, while one of the jugglers amuses the crowd, the other does not forget to solicit their contributions; for even magicians, strange to say, cannot live without money.'
Imagine how nice this would look framed and hanging on your wall. - $125.00
=====
Milbourne Christopher even liked this image, so much, he featured it on the content page of his book: "Panorama of Magic".

Then from a shawl, borrowed from one of the audience, the wizard continues to produce and produce, without being near any place of concealment, or any assistant of the company”

2725-7458) JOHN HENRY ANDERSON Piece from 1843
Thurlow Weed, editor of the Albany Argus newspaper and a prolific diarist, toured England in July & August, 1843. Among the great sights and sounds he saw was a glimpse of the aged Duke Of Wellington, hero Of Waterloo, on horseback; a young Queen Victoria, and, although he was unaware of the rarity of the event, a presentation of Magical Skills by
John Henry Anderson, billing himself as The Wizard Of The North. He was gaining quite a reputation by this time, being asked to demonstrate his skills (at the time of this writing) to none other than Emperor Nicholas of Russia! This write appears in the September 16, 1843 issue of the Supplement To The Connecticut Courant.
The Supplement was a biweekly subscription-only, 8 page journal published in Hartford, Connecticut from 1827-1879.
John Henry Anderson's show took place at the Adelphi Theatre, London, on July 14, 1843.
What Weed saw was nothing less than astonishing:
"This man is indeed a wizard. The delusions practiced cast Monsieur Adrent, Signor Blintz and all other Magicians into a deep shade."
He then describes a wonderful, in dazzling detail, three tricks Anderson performed:
There is some great info here, especially for magic historians and anyone wanting to take a page out of the playbook of the master himself, John Henry Anderson, The Wizard Of The North!
The article starts at the lower portion, first column of page 147 and concludes in the upper portion, second column.
Were the article all together in one column, it would measure approx. 2 5/8"(width) by 5 1/4"(length). The paper, itself, measures approx. 9"x11 1/2".
There are no photos, woodcuts, etc. just a great early piece of history on John Henry Anderson from 165+ Years Ago!! - $75.00

2668-7894) HOUDINI GROLIER CARD issued by subscription only. The card is approx. 6"x 4 1/2". "The Grolier Story Of America Cards" have a nice write-up on the person or event pictured. Produced back in 1995 it contains a nice biography of Houdini on one side and a photo of Houdini, you don’t see very often, on the other side. He’s posing for the camera, arms extended showing two pair of handcuffs around his wrists. Just before he would be nailed into the wooden packing case and lowered into the water for his underwater escape. Most photos you see of this are always AFTER Houdini is already in the box and the box is being lowered into the water. Nice that this photo precedes the moment. - $10.00
